We’ve been waiting for a long time for this one, but it’s finally time to add Fanatics Sportsbook app to the list. A global behemoth in the sports merchandise and apparel world, Fanatics has expanded its business to include a state-of-the-art sports betting app… and it’s a good one.

Fanatics Sportsbook is currently available in ten states: West Virginia, Virginia, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, Colorado, and Vermont. This may not seem like much, but when you factor in that their sports betting app just went live on August 9, it’s an impressive reach.

We’ve tried the app and it’s performed admirably to this point, and the Fanatics betting app experience is only going to get better.

PointsBet Acquisition

In June 2023, Fanatics outbid DraftKings and acquired PointsBet in a blockbuster sports betting deal worth $225 million.

PointsBet has made waves for having sparkling good sports betting app technology, and they’ve got market access deals in a lot of states. With Fanatics acquiring PointsBet, the growth of their betting app could be huge. PointsBet has excellent market access deals throughout the US and is a viable door into many betting markets.

  1. FanDuel Sportsbook App

As one of the best daily fantasy sports sites in the U.S., FanDuel Sportsbook has plenty of experience when it comes to catering to players. The operator also has one of the biggest names in iGaming behind it, ever since it was acquired by Paddy Power Betfair in 2018.

The FanDuel betting app is currently available and legal in 19 states: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Since their foray into real money sports betting requires a totally different platform, FanDuel offers separate gaming apps for its sportsbook and DFS contests.

Overall, FanDuel offers a clean, fast, easily navigable, intuitive app with great pricing and a wide range of betting options. It was the first U.S. sportsbook to offer the very popular “Same Game Parlay” and the copycats simply have not matched it in function. Alongside the second and third options on this list, it is the first to offer player props each week for the NFL and other contests.

FanDuel also has the fastest cashouts we’ve seen. Preferences from one guy to the next vary, but at the present time, it’s widely considered one of the best betting apps, if not the best. It tops our list and has for some time.

  1. BetMGM Sportsbook App

BetMGM has done a great job with its mobile platform since partnering with GVC in a joint venture called “Roar Digital.” The brand offers a big variety of betting types including point spreads, moneyline bets, prop bets, futures, parlay bets, and in-play betting.

BetMGM’s betting app is live in the most states of any brand. These include: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington D.C, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Notably, the Mississippi betting app is only available on-site at the Gold Strike Casino, and the Nevada app is slightly different as well due to local gaming law.

You’ll find almost as many props here as the other top sportsbooks listed above. All the tabs you’ll need to navigate the app are located at the bottom of the screen, front and center at all times — Home, A-Z Menu, Betslip, My Bets, and Promotions. But our biggest gripe remains that BetMGM is sometimes sluggish to load and prone to freezing. Over the past year, the BetMGM sports betting app has only grown in popularity and remains an elite choice for any and all sports bettors.

  1. DraftKings Sportsbook App

Often grouped with FanDuel due to their DFS-past, DraftKings Sportsbook also has one of the best sports betting mobile apps. The operator started offering online sports betting services in New Jersey only three months after PASPA was struck down, in fact, it became the first legal mobile betting app outside of Nevada.

DraftKings currently offers mobile services in Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming. DraftKings offers apps for both iOS and Android platforms. The apps are very well optimized and easy to navigate. It’s responsive and pretty fast. It has only improved since shifting in 2021 from Kambi for its back-end software and risk-management to an in-house system powered by SBTech. The pricing has improved slightly and the breadth of betting markets has only increased.

In a shocking turn of events, DraftKings made a late play to acquire PointsBet for $195 million but eventually got outbid by Fanatics.

Also great: DK is quick to post player and game props, alternative lines, and spreads. The interface, in some sections, is a bit cluttered. Their ‘Same Game Parlay’ feature is simply not as good as FanDuel’s, and the pricing is more opaque. One other smallish gripe: the geolocation can be a bit finicky and sometimes requires a reboot, at least in certain jurisdictions.

Users have access to a very wide range of sports from both U.S. and international markets. You’ll also find lots of creative promotions and bonus bets at DraftKings. The iOS app is one of the highest-rated sportsbook apps on the market.
